Gorgeous, Pale Grey Antique Hutch

A beautiful antique piece that is also functional, whether it's in the living room, dining room, or bedroom!  This hutch has lovely lines and a very shabby-chic feel to it, but has lots of space for storing linens, ironware, dining ware or table settings.  The bottom drawer is roomy, and the curio door swings open to reveal two removable shelves perfect for storing more items.  A plate rail in the back of the shelves will hold decorative or breakable china upright for display or protection.  The outside is painted with a soft grey chalk paint, distressed and waxed for a soft touch, pretty sheen, and durability.  The curio is painted a cheery aqua, and shelves are sealed to protect against scratches.  The ornately carved drawer works well and the glass door latches to secure the cabinet-front.  Solid wood throughout: this hutch is probably from the early 1920's - 30's.  With a lace insert behind the glass and pretty scrolled wood-work throughout, this is an utterly romantic piece that can be cherished for many years in your home!

Antique aqua 5-drawer dresser with scroll filagrees

This dresser is a statement piece!  Painted a bold aqua colour with hand-painted scroll-work, it has been distressed and waxed to perfection to lend the dresser a well-worn patina.  The five drawers slide beautifully and provide plenty of storage while the dark walnut-stained top grounds the bright pop of colour underneath.  I adore furniture that has character and detailed millwork; this one is sure to gain lots of attention from furniture and shabby-chic lovers alike.

In low light, the dresser appears to have a 

minty-green hue which is quite pretty.

In bright white light, the dresser is closer to a blue-aqua shade;

Pretty Grey & Moroccan tile-printed media console/sideboard table

This console is perfect for a big-screen TV or media centre, but could also be used as a side-board.  Refinished by hand with lovely grey and cream colours and a Moroccan tile print, it is sure to be a conversation piece.  This unique and modern table has two doors that open to reveal an airy hand-painted mural and a removable shelf convenient for storing media items, books, housewares, or general clutter.  All surfaces are sealed for protection.

Sleek & Modern console or sideboard table with Chevrons

OK, so this isn't my typical refinishing style, but I had fun with this one!  This table is solid wood (possibly birch or poplar?) and was in OK shape when I came across it (see the before picture).  It has been refinished by hand to transform it from a boring, dated blue table into something unique and contemporary!  

While the shape of the table looks more IKEA than anything (perhaps it was in a previous life?), I thought it would look great with some patterning that would make it stand out from just some other ho-hum table that you could buy at a big-box store.  So I gave the top a hand-painted pattern of raw wood and soft black acrylic, painted in a chevron-esq pattern and sealed it with an ultra-matte finish. I chose an ultra-matte finish as sometimes shine/sheen can detract from a painted pattern. The bottom is a black satin finish.  Perfect for an entry way catch-all for charging tech, holding keys, displaying artwork, and consolidating clutter.  Will also work well in a hallway or behind a sofa!

Here's a before picture: while hard to see, the table was covered in dripped paint, heavy scratch and scuff marks and primer was peeking through the cobalt blue.  It was full of painted-on brush hairs too.  No thanks.

Vintage coffee table set in pale blue and walnut

Lovely solid pine coffee table and two matching side tables are hand refinished with pale blue bases and dark walnut stained tops. All pieces have been glazed, distressed, and sealed to add character and protection to the wood. Table tops show the nice pine wood grain and knots (I like seeing the wood grain's natural beauty). Coffee table has two drawers in great condition (they have been stained inside to match the table top). New fixtures and curvy woodworking complete the shabby-chic feel to these tables.

Sleek Antique desk in Black satin

Beautiful, streamlined and polished black desk is refinished in a satiny black to give this desk an elegant finish.  Pretty stenciling on the inside of drawers lends a fun peek-a-boo when opened (one side has a carved groove for holding pencils, too). Spindle-y turned legs, original fixtures, and backsplash show how well the desk was crafted by Canadian woodworkers at Gibbard Furniture (http://www.gibbardfurniture.ca/).

Classic shabby coffee table

This coffee table was in need of some serious love when I stumbled upon it! Table is solid pine throughout and has been naturally distressed on top. Top is stained and sealed a rich brown so the wood grain beneath shows through. Table base is painted an antique white with distressed finishing.
