Beautiful Farmhouse table and chair set

I have returned from a week-long visit to my childhood home where I spent my time lovingly restoring and reconstructing a dining set!  The "K" family asked me if I could turn their MDF and veneer dining set (a table and 6 chairs) into a farmhouse-style table and shabby-chic chairs to match...and I agreed to do it - what FUN!  They wanted a dining set that would transition them from their previous, modern home in the GTA to their new life in the charming and spacious century home which they recently acquired.  As a busy family of four, they would need a table and chairs that were both beautiful and functional...but most importantly, durable!  So I set out on a table and chair journey that took their furniture from drab and pre-fab, to just plain fab!

The chairs were chalk-painted a bright white (they picked the same bright white as the mirror hanging in their dining room and their other dining pieces...hey, recognize that mirror?  See it here!). The family requested heavy distressing before the chairs were waxed; and they also requested their original chair covers to keep in step with their red-and-white themed dining area.  The table legs received the same treatment, but the table top was re-built from scratch with gorgeous, reclaimed pine boards that were rough-cut 30 years ago.  With a new pine table top fastened to the old table, I set about making the top a little unique and quirky so it truly looked like it had been made many decades ago.  The boards were cut to size, roughed up, then sealed, smoothed, and re-sealed several times until they revealed their full potential.  Each dent, knot and antique, black-iron nail makes this table top one-of-a-kind!

Enjoy your new table and chairs K family! :)
