What is Sage & Balm all about?

Sage & Balm is a small home-based business dedicated to finding long, lost, and forgotten furniture or housewares and giving those items a second chance: it's recycling for home furnishings!  Rather than seeing our landfills fill up with old items, why not turn those pieces into something you can love or use again?
My goal is to provide one-of-a-kind items that are both useful and beautiful - since life is too short to own anything else!  I use high quality materials and my re-finishing expertise will give you high-end products at affordable prices.  I try my best to use products that are eco-friendly.

If you love all things shabby chic, vintage, antique, distressed, French Country, or just plain pretty, then you've come to the right place.  Everything at Sage and Balm is one-of-a-kind and unique! Feel free to peruse my current photos to see what is in stock.  Custom orders are welcome if you have furniture in need of a makeover. To place an order for a listed item or for a custom request you may email sageandbalm@gmail.com and I will be happy to assist you.

~ Coffee table has sold; end tables still available ~

Lovely solid pine coffee table and two matching side tables are hand refinished with pale blue bases and dark walnut stained tops. All pieces have been glazed, distressed, and sealed to add character and protection to the wood. Table tops show the nice pine wood grain and knots (I like seeing the wood grain's natural beauty). Coffee table has two drawers in great condition (they have been stained inside to match the table top). New fixtures and curvy woodworking complete the shabby-chic feel to these tables.

Side tables:      Height:  19"  Depth:  25.5"  Width: 22"

Sleek Antique desk in Black satin

Beautiful, streamlined and polished black desk is refinished in a satiny black to give this desk an elegant finish.  Pretty stenciling on the inside of drawers lends a fun peek-a-boo when opened (one side has a carved groove for holding pencils, too). Spindle-y turned legs, original fixtures, and backsplash show how well the desk was crafted by Canadian woodworkers at Gibbard Furniture (http://www.gibbardfurniture.ca/).

French Provençal shabby chic table

~ Item Sold ~

This French-inspired table has old-world charm, but does not sacrifice on function.  Painted a creamy greige (grey-beige) and black, it has been heavily distressed and hand-painted to look much more well-loved than its vintage years would suggest.  The double drawer is really one deep drawer, perfect for containing clutter.  Whether used as a coffee table, end/side table, or nightstand, this sturdy number is a shabby-chic statement piece.

Features: solid wood throughout, double-deep drawer (painted and sealed), heavy distressing and glazing for a very antiqued feel, multi-purpose table, pretty woodworking and fixtures, hand-painted "French" details.

Dimensions: Height:  22.5" Depth/Length:  28" Width: 20"

Another oldie-goldie

This poor corner hutch came to me in a ghastly state: it was a sad grey-purple colour and was falling apart.  Thankfully, it had good bones and beautiful wooden detailing! After some repair work, new paint, glaze, and a little love, it now looks much more approachable!  This item is not for sale.

Two-tone grey corner hutch:

Pretty wooden details; glazed to stand out.
